SOCOM 4!!!!!

Socom 4 now has release date of 19th April and they have some multiplayer footage out now and it looks pretty good. It does have respawn games but also a classic mode like the socom we are used too.

Lets just all accept the fact that this is not socom 2. If you dont like it dont play it..... But if you dont play it dont moan about it. Once again so it sinks in... THIS IS NOT SOCOM 2.

I predict I will buy this game, play it lots and enjoy it too! Can't wait for it eventual release, which will no doubt be 6/8 weeks after the US release.

According to the PlayStation Blog, the once-delayed SOCOM 4 will come out in North America on April 19th. No word yet on if the European release date will be different.....no news is good news I suppose!

From the Socom.com website, further confirmation of what was rumoured.....

The last week of January was big for everyone here at Zipper Interactive as we finally revealed details about SOCOM: Special Forces and its extensive competitive multiplayer modes. To help us celebrate the occasion, we flew in a group of die-hard SOCOM community members to our headquarters in Redmond, WA to try out SOCOM: Special Force's multiplayer first-hand, while also giving them the opportunity to grill us with their burning questions.

The day began with “The 18” -- as the SOCOM community has since begun to call them – being led on a tour of the entire Zipper Interactive studio. They met artists and sound people, QA testers and producers, and even had the opportunity to say hello to our executive staff and our designers.

Following the tour was a brief presentation that included a look at one of SOCOM: Special Force's never-before-seen single-player levels, Onslaught, which they were also able to play for themselves later on during the event. We also formally announced 3D support for the game.

Of course, what the community really came to get were the first details about the game’s multiplayer features, as well as some personal time on the controller. We had four maps to try out, including the classic map Abandoned that you can receive free by pre-ordering and two (of four) different modes for play, Suppression and the brand-new Last Defence. As an added bonus, we also let everyone get a taste of SOCOM: Special Force's “Classic” game-type which melds an old-school rule set (no respawn, no health regeneration, etc.) with all of our current maps and game mechanics.

I shall investiaget as soon as i get home, if not there i shall once again hassle GAME until they give me more than my fair share, as they did with the 24 double XP codes, got three of those suckers in the end.

Have those, got the dls one in the case, and had to chase for the double xp, no sign of the SOCOm code though after checking last night, sure its not just the US that beta access came with?

I reckon what they'll do is 're-activate' the code in the case for the Socom beta so it can be re-used. Either way, I'm cool. With no launch date for the EU for S4 - and the bad taste Confrontation left, I'm in no rush to be a guinea pig for this one. Thankfully, the Yanks are doing that for us all.

I managed to watch some vids on YouTube last night after GT5/KZ3 and must say I'm liking what I see! This may even pursuade me to get Move and give it a try!

I have to say that i am very much enjoying the beta! They just need to push the camera back and I think that its going to be a great game. There is absolutely no lag which is a massive shock seeing what the confrontation beta was like. The graphics and sound are awesome.
I won my code for it on the socom forums, they are doing giveaways every day, did take me until saturday to win one though.

Sounding promising. I hear a few people requesting the camera to be pushed back a bit as the over the shoulder view is a bit obstructive by all accounts. From reading the Socom forums, it looks like Zipper are already implementing some changes being requested from round one of the beta - so it looks like they are listening.

Rumors on the grapevine have intimated that Zipper are/will be moving the camera back for the classic mode for that more authentic S2 look.

Tak / Gunnell, head over to the official beta forum (link unknown for non-beta members) and find out the truth! Also, make sure you add your feed-back too!

Would love to go into the beta forum but loads of people myself included are having great difficulties getting into it.
